My Tribute For Lena
I discovered Lena Zavaroni by accident one night, while I was looking on you tube for my favourite song, "I can't live if living is without you." I saw that it was performed by this girl with a strange name(Lena Zavaroni). I was curious, so I listened to it. I was so taken by her performance, that I began to look for any information that I could find about Lena,never knowing that once I learned, as much as I know now, that it would so emotionally effect my life, that I would never be the same person,ever again. I have watched almost all her videos, all her interviews, and anything else I can find about her. This is the short version of the love,respect,admiration, amazement, frustration and sadness that I have for Lena Zavaroni. She was 4' 9" tall, but was a monster of a performer. Her on and off stage presence would make King Kong look small. She was the most prolific and electrifying entertainer, that I have ever seen in my 65 years. No one is or ever has been her equal. Her legacy was aptly expressed by Jerry Lewis, when she was on his telethon, doing "Help me make it through the night." Jerry said "can you believe that? It is unbelievable!" That coming from a man who has over 50 years in show business, and I know allot about Jerry. He is big. He would never say that if he did not really believe it. That is what Lena Zavaroni was: unbelievable! too magnificent for human understanding or appreciation. I have to shake my head in awe, every time I watch her as I child or young adult. Many times I have shed tears, because of her tragic ending, and said to myself and my God; Lord please take me and bring Lena back. Lena was the most humble, decent, relatively moral person, in the entertainment field, in history. If you could watch Lena Zavaroni on and off stage and not feel that she was the most lovable person, with the biggest heart and the most gentle and warm icon- heck! she would humble icons. She was too wonderful for this earthly plane. If you watched her and did not not feel that way, then you are sleepwalking your life away or you are merely existing without any heart yourself, at all. I cannot adequately give Lena Zavaroni the accolades that she deserves, its mere words. But, if you can comprehend the incomprendable magnificence of God Almighty, then He has Blessed us with a flicker of his supremity, with a brief appearance of his most precious creations; the human being, and Lena Zavaroni sits atop of that precious creation. Unbelievable, beyond comprehension, as a person and celebrity; that is what she was!
